The Ghost of John Henry by Long Haul Paul

In Greek mythology, Prometheus stole fire from the gods in an act of rebellion and gifted it to his favorite creation, humanity. That act symbolized the greatest technological advancement in all of human history. As a result, we were able to adapt ourselves to colder climates, cook food, and grow our communities. But it also enabled us to forge weapons and destroy our enemies. The story has been famously used as a parable to highlight the moral responsibilities and consequences associated with new technologies. The imminent impacts of artificial intelligence and robotics technology are no exception.

The goal of the project is to humanize the cold economic statistics, highlight some issues with the technology, and help create meaningful conversations. The up to 500,000 truck drivers at risk of job displacement are fathers, mothers, neighbors, and role models, from all walks of life, who depend on that income to support both their families and all of our communities.  America needs to be proactive in how we handle this issue. Trucking is just the tip of the iceberg...

Truck drivers have a unique perspective by having a front row seat to the very best and worst of America. They regularly witness majestic rural landscapes to big city skylines, abject poverty, overbearing regulations, haphazard technologies, unspeakable tragedies, and stunning acts of heroism on our highways. American truckers have the lived experience to help lead this conversation. Most of us are sitting in that same driver's seat.

We would be wise to pay attention to what's happening on our interstates.
